Drone Competitions for the Next Generation of Pilots, Engineers and Innovators
Dronelab Academy creates exciting drone competitions for schools, clubs and ambitious young drone athletes from local challenges to national finals and international opportunities.
Where STEM Meets Competition
Dronelab competitions are designed to make STEM exciting, competitive and unforgettable.
Students train as pilots, engineers, coders, tacticians and team leaders while competing in fast-paced drone challenges that test accuracy, speed, teamwork and problem-solving. Our structured competition pathway allows students to start at school level, progress to national events and, for the most ambitious, explore international competition opportunities.
Perfect for introducing students to drone sport and STEM competition. Schools can host internal competitions during STEM days, enrichment weeks, after-school clubs or activity days. Example events: timed obstacle course, accuracy landing, drone football mini-games, coding flight path challenge, team relay race and King of the Hill.
For schools and clubs ready to compete more seriously, Dronelab Academy offers structured competitions where teams can represent their school, train over time and compete against other student teams. Events can include drone racing, drone football, obstacle course racing, coding missions, team strategy and engineering challenges.
For the most committed and talented students, Dronelab Academy aims to create international pathways into major drone sport events, including competition experiences in Shanghai. These opportunities are designed for ambitious drone athletes who want to test themselves on a larger stage.
Competition Formats

Drone Racing
Students fly through gates, turns and technical sections, aiming for speed, control and consistency. Racing develops hand-eye coordination, spatial awareness, reaction speed and calm decision-making under pressure.

Drone Football
Drone football combines STEM, sport and teamwork. Students pilot protected drones in an arena-style game where strategy, accuracy and team communication are essential.

Timed Obstacle Courses
Students fly through gates, turns and technical sections, aiming for speed, control and consistency. Racing develops hand-eye coordination, spatial awareness, reaction speed and calm decision-making under pressure.

King of the Hill
A tactical drone game where pilots compete to control a target zone for the longest time. Students must balance attack, defence, positioning and control.

Coding Challenges
Students programme drones to complete routes, manoeuvres or missions. These challenges reward accuracy, planning, debugging and computational thinking.

Engineering Challenge
Teams prepare, maintain and optimise their drones before competition. Students are assessed on teamwork, problem-solving, technical understanding and safe equipment handling.
